There are some areas under trees where I can grow ferns but I'd love to grow many other woodland plants and can't!
The rain and wind really do the peonies in don't they. It's been cool and light rain here so they are still holding up ok. Yes, please post your peonies arrangement.

Hi Laura, I DO rock out to my I-pod when I'm working..it's so much more enjoyable! I can't sing but I DO (hopefully, the neighbors can't hear)!

Robin, wish you could smell the rose, too! It's pure heaven!

Hi Heather, I lost a white rhody after the hard winter but this red one is newly planted last year and faces north so it gets afternoon protection. I love how the buds are that intense red colour and then the blooms are a hot pink. We had some winter kill this year because it was an intense winter here in Ontario. We had a ton of snow and really cold weather and my rhodo didn't take it too well. Wow, all of your photos would be 'best in bloom' in my yard;-) Your single petal pink peonies are to die for...(not literally, thanks but no thanks!!). The yellow really is bright. My one pink/purple peony bloom is gone, due to loads of rain and wind. All the white blooms are out, but many are 'down' and 'out' due to the same rain/wind. This happened prior to getting a nice photo of them on the bush;-( Luckily I took a photo of several stalks of them that I'd cut and brought inside!! I might show them on a post soon.

Your yard must be heaven. In person it must be like a dream. More blooms than I will ever see. I think you have more land, and much sunnier areas than I have here. My back yard seems to work better as a mostly shade garden. I prefer the mostly sun plants, though. Those deep purple peonies are delectable!Janhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12844013803699228989noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8672199313175868241.post-66884467127710016212009-05-27T09:34:53.179-04:002009-05-27T09:34:53.179-04:00Good morning. Maple (below) really stole my heart. So awesome! This single peony is the same one with the seedheads I posted about today. It's so pretty and to think I was never a single kind of gal:) I say nah to the household chores. I can barely get supper on the table and dishes done and think that is enough!
