Hunterdon County...in pictures

So I'm finally up and about and able to drive again (the little things we take for granted)! Got through some errands, met a girlfriend for lunch and even soaked up some Vitamin D...now that's progress. Along the way I, of course, had to snap some pictures...granted most are from the front seat of my car but I think they came out pretty well...
A beautiful...albeit cold...bench to sit on now, but this view makes me sooo appreciative of winter landscapes!

A holly bush covered in berries was what caught my eye...at the post office! Hmm, maybe I can "borrow" a cutting.

Remember this little statuette from a previous post? I should have brought her in but she does provide clean water for the birds...is that a good excuse for being lazy?

A cool shadow casting from my 3' maple tree....and Bandit prints.

One of the most photographic scenes in New Jersey is this historic Red Mill (http://www.clintonnj.com/) We love coming here as Main Street has plenty of shops and restaurants to enjoy and it's pretty all year round. Especially great in the summer when the fishermen are out.

And just up the falls was this odd view of a canoe..out of water! I think kids propped it up to use as an ice hockey goal as this is a favorite past time.

Prickly (but soft) seed pods of a sweet gum tree

I'll venture to say this a sycamore tree...?...with its pretty white bark.

Wishing y'all a wonderful and fun Superbowl weekend!

My Favorite Poinsettia...

Best in Bloom Today is my basket of marbled pink poinsettias...purchased before Thanksgiving and still doing great! She likes this corner but I definitely have to move her when the fire's going.
Also great is my back is doing better...thanks to wonderful friend's chiropractic adjustment! It's a beautiful, sunny day and I'm thankful we are NOT without power after yesterday's mess.

Here I was (you see me, don't ya?) a few days ago making my "Wish List"....well, we all know how that can go! Even Bandit is looking at me like I'm out of control....lol!
Yikes, can that amount (!$#*$!) be right? Hey, if Hubba Hubba ever finds out, I can say "Hmm...must've been in a drug-induced state!" Think he'll buy it?

More Daylilies

Ok, don't know what I did to cause it, but a diagnosis of a pinched nerve (lower back) has me laid up with heating pads and pain meds. Some might enjoy all this bed rest but I was going crazy after day one so here I am propped up with pillows and blogging...yeah for laptops! A nice spread of perennial/seed catalogs to keep me occupied...just no sudden movements! Here's more pretty pictures of...what else...daylilies!

Pure and Simple...this was a very young clump with one blooming scape but I (LOVE!) the rich apricot shades. And it just pops above a bed of Persian Shield.
Collected this one purely because I loved the name...Who's Your Daddy! It was planted in too shady a spot (very few buds and probably paler than it should be?) so it's on my list to move this spring.
This pretty in pink is called Vivacious...
This is a good candidate for Primal Scream but I'm not 100% sure...

Daylilies

Continuing on with my daylily photos...
I lost the tag to this pretty peachy-pink one...any guesses?
Chance Encounter...of my favorite kind!
A close-up of Apple Crisp...raindrops and daylilies just go together..don't you think?

Another of my favorite: Bela Lugosi-this was such a big healthy clump when purchased in June that by October, I was able to divide it into three new clumps. If you like dark, rich tones, this is the one to have!

A lot of duplicates from past posts but still nice to look at...especially on this dark winter's day.  Stay warm out there!

Sunrise

Last Friday started with a beautiful sunrise but a record low temp of 8 degrees with a high of only 19 for the day! I guess it could be worse...

A flock of Cedar Waxwings feasting on the crab apples...unfortunately, my (poor) camera did not pick up their pretty yellow bellies and tail tips. Very entertaining to watch them swoop down in such large numbers...

'Til a cute little bunny chased them off...And where did that bright sun go?!

Cold but Pretty...

Even after a bitter cold and messy Saturday, the view from my window this morning is beautiful...you can almost see the ice melting off this chokeberry.

A good time to pour over garden catalogs and make your wish list!  Don't know about you but my list gets longer and longer!

Daylilies

It took a while but I finally located some great daylily photos to share! Just seeing these awesome blossoms really make me anxious for the garden to get going again, especially on this cold, dark day! First up is a pretty all peach self called Elizabeth Salter. Look at the size of that bloom!

This beauty is called Strutters Ball...the color is a much more deeper purple than the photo shows.

I'm not certain what the name of this pastel pink one is...any guess?

I love the dark eyes of this one. I believe it's called Wineberry Candy and yes, that's my shadow over the plant.

Glowing Delight-you can't tell from the photo but this clump was over 4ft. tall...opens in a deep creamy orange and the edges fade to yellow by evening.

Purple and Orange(!) Bold colors that do not go together, but in a daylily bed...I love it!

I was very lucky to have visited Woodside Nursery (NJ) before they closed for business...this photo shows only a small section of the garden...just imagine acres and acres of daylilies!
