Winter's Last Kiss

I didn't mind waking up to this scene yesterday...
but, let's hope it really IS the last
hurrah from Old Man Winter.
An opportunity for some pretty pics, at least.

Too bad I couldn't get this little guy to face me.
With clouds clearing and sunshine by midday, branches were quickly bare, and streets cleared, so I ventured out.

For more photos, of course.

This common merganser was well camouflaged, save that flash of beak!

Same with the grey heron!
Though enjoying my new found hobby of birding, I can't help but be most anxious for that first pop of color in my garden: Hellebores!

Thanks for stopping by, and, don't forget to 'Spring forward' tomorrow, friends!

You've Got to be Kidding!

We woke up today with 6-8" of the white powder...again! Anticipating a few more inches by 3pm. It seems I go from colorful spring flowers to cold winter postings..enough already! Just when my hellebores were showing signs of life...they are tough little plants though and will survive..but I may not! With schools and offices closed today, we are lazying about in our pj's but kids are mumbling something about mom hogging the computer! I'm happy that I've caught up on my blog readings, so a productive day! HH just plowed the driveway so I'll venture out for some photos...

Sun trying to push through the clouds...bright for a bit but it stayed dark like this most of the day.
Little white dog missing.....OH, therrre he is!
The nearby gorge that I love walking through
A wild bittersweet vine...

And this cute little red chair in a neighbor's yard caught my eye.

The sunset tonight was hazy but with pinkish hue to it...
Let's hope these will be the last winter wonderland pics of the year. Come on...it's March already! Ok, I won't think about the time we had snow at Easter...lol. I've been enjoying the spring blooms of  wonderful garden bloggers (you know who you are), but I am so ready to see new growth coming from my very..sigh. Hopefully, next time.  Stay warm, guys!

Winter Beauty

A good day to be indoors as travel warnings are in effect due to ice and freezing rain. Of course, it's also a time to appreciate the landscape when the ice crystals reflect so brightly in the sunlight.

I must look quite comical, trudging out there with boots not high enough and freezing my toes AND fingers!  All for a silly blog, eh?

Snow in October?!?

An early nor'easter on October 28th! Hmm...maybe that's why I was moody!  Six inches of snow and lots of ice damage...is this a preview for a tough winter ahead..?

Please...don't let it snow!

Though the snow covered crabapples sure looked mighty beautiful!
