Best Garden Gift...Ever!

Investing as much time, energy and MONEY as I do in my garden, the worst outcome would be not seeing and enjoying the fruits of my labor, right?
And living in deer country sure makes that an ongoing challenge!

An existing 6ft. fence did nothing to deter those pesky four-legged buggers!  They instinctively knew when the daylily buds were at peak flavor.  Grrrr!!!
Then my life changed on August 14, 2014.  The day of the 8ft. deer fence installation!
The back half (of an acre) was now completely safe to plant to my heart's desire...
what a glorious feeling!
Kudos to "The Fence Co." for a job well done!  The distance between posts are about 20ft. and there's even a 10ft. double gate to allow trucks for soil/mulch delivery.  The family room's view of the corner braces took a bit getting used to...I don't even notice it anymore!
These mounds of goodness were delivered a week before the fence...I was too excited to wait!  My daughter and friend are smiling because it was the easiest $20/hr. job ever...and boy, did they take their time!
Fast forward to July, 2015, and this is what the mound of soil looked like.  We still see deer in the yard, but on the OTHER side of the fence...peering in with big eyes and mouths watering..HA!

Several more truckloads of soil have been added since this bed.
And I have another big piece of news to share in the next post, so....
Stay tuned...
Have a great SUNday, friends!

Feeling Grounded!

I don't know about you, but I tend to get a little (okay, a lot!) cranky when I go
through a stretch of time without some form of garden therapy.
Truly.  I do.
Bulbs have really been struttin' their stuff for a few weeks now.
Except for the occasional photo ops, I haven't had time to get out there and really enjoy them...
until this past week!

Thanks to the extended daylight!  A quick change out of heels to garden clogs
and I'm sprinting out the door after work!
But bulbs aren't the only plants showing off  in the garden.
The weeds have never looked healthier!
But guess what?  I love to weed.
Truly. I do!
A few hours later (and a wheel barrow full of weeds), I find myself
feeling more relaxed, more centered...
more ME!
Gardening...it just grounds me.  I bet you gardeners can relate!
Thanks for visiting, Friends.

Late night progress

So the last post here had us counting 10 days down to Spring.
Well, the ten days came and went...where is it?!
It's been over a month and the weather is just finally changing!
Sure, there were a few 70 degree days but Mother Nature was just messin' with us.
I should've known better than to sow my indoor seeds 2 weeks early!
So...are you asking what's with all these black and white flowers?
I am still sharing beauty from the Philadelphia Flower Show (see last post).
This curtain below depicted a waterfall in Yosemite National Park...
what a stunning display!
Imagine the immense labor of stringing these individual blooms...whoa!
Made great progress burning the midnight oil...cleaning out my immense photo files.
And I was ruthless, too!
I mean, really...do I need 4-5 photos on the same subject?!
The above 8 are keepers out of 45!  If photography is your hobby too,
I'm sure you get that!  I've been wanting to make cards out of the best ones...
another project on the To-Do list.
Let's end this post with a little color, shall we?

Next time, I'll share what's blooming in the garden!
Happy Spring, Friends!
