In Loving Memory

I knew in an instant we were meant to be
When I saw you snuggling
with your litter mates of three
Softly sweet and cuddly, too
My heart just melted
and grew and grew

"I'll be the first to hold him" we all agreed
So he would learn early on
his new Mommy was me!

You tagged along everywhere I went
even out of the house
Hidden, of course, in my shoulder bag
quiet as a mouse
But crowds gathered, creating such a craze

How could they not, just look at that face!

The fiercest of watchdogs, with all of your might
We laughed how you growled at
strange sounds in the night!

By my side in the garden, your favorite place to be
Running, digging, so thrilled to be free!
Not so cute and smelly here, like Pepé Le Pew

But a quick rinse in the sink...

And you're good as new!

The fruits of my labor you appreciated well
I love that you even went in for a smell

Another capture of my two favorite things
Bandit and daylilies...
how they make my heart sing!

Many pics I developed, held a surprise
To find you in the background

Just smiling a "HI!"

My heart is now heavy, many tears I'll cry
For you left without warning
without a goodbye

Peacefully resting now, I know we must part
You'll forever remain my little Bandit
biggest thief of my heart...

Bandit - RIP

  3. Oh, no... Lynn, why so soon?????? Why so sudden????
I'm crying for you and for Bandit. This is a great loss not only to you but to us, who know Bandit through all the entries on your blog.
All I can do now is pray for Bandit to be happy where he is and you will overcome this grief.
Bandit, I love you although I have never touched you. RIP.

  4. I'm so very sorry for your loss, Lynn. Our dogs are our kids (literally), and I'm pretty sure we have three at a time just to try to cover that gaping hole that's left when one of them passes. All dogs should live exactly as long as their people.

You did a beautiful tribute to him with the best pictures you'll have to look at forever. It will get easier as time goes by.

  24. Lynn, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I will miss Bandit very much too, having seen him many times in your garden. He will always live on as a true hero in the hearts of all those who have met and loved him. I would like to dedicate this to you:

"One day at a time - this is enough.
    Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone;
And do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come.
Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering".
..... Ida Scott Taylor (1820-1915), author.
