A New Dawn...

...to a New Year! Happy 2011, ALL!

On days when my little one (who happens to be a head taller than me!) needs that extra 15 minutes on the snooze button, I willingly agree (most of the time!) to drive her into school. Especially on clear mornings when I know the sunrise will be worth capturing on film.

A detour through this reservoir is my reward on the way home. If I'm not too lazy, I'm dressed properly for a little hike along the shore. But, more often than not, I'm in my winter boots and robe. After all, who's nutty enough to be out and trekking about at 7am?! Well, other than yours truly!

But for the last sunrise of 2010, I ventured out for that purpose alone. Memories of warm breezes and tropical palms are fading fast but I'm not complaining. Sunscapes framed by white pines are just as intense and heartwarming. Beauty from a different kind of shoreline.

And just when I was thinking...what a shame, no one else is witnessing this amazing view...I spy a lone fisherman. He rowed out and with a turn of the oars, put himself smack center of my lens...haha! I wanted to wave and shout "Hi! Isn't the sky gorgeous?!"...forgetting about my wardrobe for a second, but he was quite a distance away...thank goodness!

As I sat there daydreaming and snapping away, my ever dependable camera allowed this one last shot before the battery gave out! How's that for good timing?

Wishing you all a beautiful start to a year filled with peace, blessings and love!

A Sunshine Day....

Who remembers this Brady Bunch episode?
One of my favs...major crush on that Greg!

A beautiful sunrise captured last week at a nearby reservoir...

The stillness of the water was deafening...my kind of noise :)

I know this family will have a Sunshiney Day!

Don't hate me if this song stays with you all day...so just give in and sing along!

Coming Soon...!

Good morning friends. As I sat down to blog, this beautiful sunrise was lighting the sky. What to do but bundle up and rush outside for a snap...isn't she pretty? I'll hope that the neighbors did not witness a crazy woman (in bathrobe and boots) running through the backyard...LOL! With the deluge of Spring 09! catalogs enticing us, I pulled these from my albums to share...enjoy!

Front view of our home. I LOVE the kwanzan cherry tree in bloom! So much that a second one was planted last fall to the left of the photo. This 20 yr.+ one does need major pruning though! The white dogwood, in it's 5th season, lost a good center section in November when we had that nasty ice storm...I may remove it if new growth doesn't fill in. Behind the white dogwood is the wonderful trellis HH built for a climbing hydrangea.
Underneath the kwanzan ...all those forget-me-nots are volunteers! Hope they remember to come back and bring more friends.

A beautiful view from our dining room...my planting of mixed tulips.

Sunny daffodil border of a neighbor's yard...good eye if you see the swing!

These photos are actually from a display garden in PA, specializing in bulbs. I am stumped though as to what it was called?!? Taken a few years back during a field trip with my local garden club. Also, when I attempted a visit the following spring, they were closed for business!
Are you drooling yet?
What a view from their office! Notice the 10ft. surrounding fence...
Hope I whet your appetite just a little and gave you a taste of what Spring will bring...soon!

Sunrise

Last Friday started with a beautiful sunrise but a record low temp of 8 degrees with a high of only 19 for the day! I guess it could be worse...

A flock of Cedar Waxwings feasting on the crab apples...unfortunately, my (poor) camera did not pick up their pretty yellow bellies and tail tips. Very entertaining to watch them swoop down in such large numbers...

'Til a cute little bunny chased them off...And where did that bright sun go?!
