Last Wednesday night, Amanda and I were heading off to the gym. It was 7:20 pm and as we were pulling out of the driveway, I commented, "This is weird!" The sun was shining but it was raining at the same time! As we drove to the end of our road, we saw a rainbow off in the distance. "Quick, grab my camera", I said. "Oh, Mom!" came the response. I
ALWAYS have my camera in my purse...Blogging Rule #1. While I drove, Mandy snapped a few shots for me over rooftops and telephone poles.
Suddenly, I swerved and took a hard right. "Are you crazy?!" She asked, rhetorically. Something made me take the detour! "I'm following that rainbow!"....you know what came next..."Aye-
yai-
yai!!"
A few more turns and we were at the crest of this road. And this is what we saw! The rainbow was directly over this church! I instantly teared up, as I know some you would have, too! After a few minutes and probably 50 photos..Rule #2, take LOTS of pictures...she was antsy and ready to go. Me...I wanted to hit the horn so everybody in the neighborhood would come out and see but DD wouldn't let me!! She did, however, admit to how COOL it was to see every spectrum of color so vividly!
And after a few more minutes of just sitting and admiring, we saw a double rainbow!
I know this wondrous view won't be repeating anytime soon so I'm truly thankful! By the time we got to the gym, the rainbows had faded...
Wow, that is a most b-e-autiful scene! I'm awed. Glad you shared it with us.
ReplyDeleteYou captured this gorgeous sight just beautifully, Lynn! I love the photo with the rainbow so close up, above the church! And all of them are so clear and show the wonder of the rainbow! I've seen several double rainbows but somehow haven't had my camera with me at those time;-( I'm glad you did so you could share it!! Did you notice how the 2nd rainbow is basically a reflection of the 1st, as the colors are 'opposite'? Always a wonder to me, nature is;-)
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! The second picture should be framed and put on the wall! Gorgeous, majestic, striking!
ReplyDeleteThe detour is so worth it! Thank God for all His creation, wonderful promises and love for us all. The rainbow is majestic. Have a blessed day! Btw, don't give up on Crown of Thorns, I think they should do better during hot summer and I know those new varieties... they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI teared up before the 2nd photo. Thank you for sharing the magnificence. A fellow garden blogger, empress of dirt, just posted about becoming verklempt by beauty. I think you would really enjoy the post!
ReplyDeletebreathtaking!
ReplyDeleteWow! I hope you send those photos to that church. They will really appreciate them.

The church shot looks like something in a book or magazine. Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteSomewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
Now look what ya did - got me singing!
Those are amazing pictures! I would've been doing the same thing. I always want everyone else to notice these types of things too, so I would've been with you on wanting to honk the horn.
ReplyDeleteYou are too darn LUCKY !!!
ReplyDeleteOnce I took a picture of a rainbow but no where near as large and vivid as yours, plus there were telephone polls in the way. Not what I'd call a keeper.
Really great pictures Lynn !
Oh soooo mystical.
Good morning, all! Thank you for your visits and taking the time to drop me a note. Tatyana and Lek, I think I WILL enlarge some of these photos and drop them off at the church. Jan, my gosh, I didn't even notice the opposite reflection..now that's cool! You're right Patsi, I DO feel LUCKY to have been able to capture these photos :) Ha ha, Linda, I love that song..sing away! Another marathon day of weeding yesterday and yours truly is feeling the pain this morning. I'm not setting foot out there today...well, maybe not 'til noon. Have a great start to your week everyone! Lynn

ReplyDeleteOh, what an amazing photo! It's so beautiful with the rainbow shining down on the church. You did a great job in capturing. I would have pulled over too, believe me.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutly breathing rainbow photos, especially the one over the church. How appropriate to see the two together. That photo is #1 of all I have taken or seen. Thank you for sharing the photos.
